Our main aim is to offer play opportunities to children and young people with additional needs. We view play as crucial to a child’s development, enabling them to explore and learn about the world around them. So children can begin to flourish and fulfil their potential. Regrettably, for children with additional needs, whether physical or learning disabilities, such opportunities are all too often restricted.
Set up seven years ago by a group of local parents, who wanted to create play opportunities for children within the area. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and creative in adapting play facilities for children with additional needs; allowing parents valuable respite time in the knowledge their children are safe and enjoying themselves in a pleasant and secure settings.
We provide play, leisure and learning opportunities to disabled children, young people and their siblings at local venues in Handsworth Birmingham. We view play as crucial to a child’s development. Our offer includes weekend, afterschool and school holiday play sessions.
Providing opportunities to disabled children and their siblings at local venues in the Ward. Furthermore the age split of the ward is predominantly children and young people at 35.3% (ibid) so there is a bigger demand for children’s services. Handsworth’s population is 82.6% ethnic minorities (BCC 2001) consequently our members include some newly arrived families and families who do not speak English as their first language.
